A Magic: The Gathering Weekend

Pastimes Competitive Event Information for the Magic Masters Series

Regional Pro Tour Qualifier at GP Indianapolis

There has been questions and discussion regarding the RPTQ to be held at Grand Prix Indianapolis.  The decision to move the event date to Friday at 2 PM has come with many questions.  Basically, in an attempt to offer the most opportunity to the largest number of players, Friday seemed to be the best option for the weekend.  This conclusion was made after polling many players at several Grand Prix and other locations.  Discussion was had between the Organizer and Wizards of the Coast OP Team and it seemed the best option was Friday afternoon.  Obviously this will not be perfect for everyone, and we apologize for this; however, we were trying to do the best for as many players as we could.  Players who Day 2 in the GP will not have to choose whether to play in the GP or the RPTQ.  Players who do not make Day 2 of the GP can still try to qualify for the Super Sunday Series.  If the RPTQ was on Sunday, these would both be significant issues in peoples' decisions about what they could play.  Again, we were working with what was possible, and this seemed the best option.

Bring your best Modern deck and your top strategies with you to a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier, and you may be one of the few to emerge from the event with an invitation and airfare to the first Pro Tour of 2016!

Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers for the first Pro Tour of 2016 take place on October 31 (in North America, Asia Pacific, and Japan) and November 7, 2015 (in Europe and Latin America). The exception to this is one Regional Pro Tour Qualifier in the United States, which will take place at Grand Prix Indianapolis on Friday, October 30th, 2015.

The Top 4 finishers of a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier with 128 or fewer players receive airfare and invitations to the first Pro Tour of 2016, while 5th- through 8th-place finishers receive invitations to the next round of Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers. If the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier is 129 or more players, 5th- through 8th-place finishers instead receive airfare and invitations to the first Pro Tour of 2016.

The format for this Regional Pro Tour Qualifier season is Modern Constructed.

As a reminder, players are only allowed to compete in one Regional Pro Tour Qualifier if they are qualified to play in one.
