A Magic: The Gathering Weekend

Pastimes Competitive Event Information for the Magic Masters Series

When to arrive at Grand Prix Pittsburgh and how to get your stuff! Everyone should read!

With changes to Sleep In Special (everyone now gets Sleep In Special as part of their GP Registration) there are some modifications to our GP Morning Procedures.

If you have no byes, please report to Hall A at the convention center at 8:50 AM.  We will post seatings for the player meeting before that time.  Please make your way to your assigned seat.  At 9:00 we will begin the Player Meeting.  We will need to collect a completed publicity waiver from every player (they will be handed out at the Player Meeting). If you have not submitted your decklist online (www.mtggp.com/player - you should do this!) - we will collect those at that time as well.  During the player meeting, you will receive your GP Promo Foil card.

If you have 1 bye, please be at the GP Hall at 10:15.

If you have 2 byes, please be at the GP Hall at 11:15

If you have 3 byes, please be at the GP Hall at 12:15

At the appropriate time you will be seated for your player meeting.  Waivers will be collected and the GP Promo will be distributed. Please make sure you have submitted your decklist prior to 9 AM on Saturday at the Info Booth or online at www.mtggp.com/player

All players MUST attend their appropriate Player Meeting.  Thank you for your cooperation.

If you registered in time for the Early Bird, or for the MegaPackage, you will receive your playmat redemption coupon at this time as well.

Pro Tour Qualifier Pittsburgh on Sunday (yes, PTQ on Sunday) - with a twist!

We were happy to hear the announcement made about Pro Tour Qualifiers returning to the event offerings at Grand Prix.  (http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/return-nationals-and-changes-grand-prix-2017-02-09)

Grand Prix Pittsburgh will be the first Grand Prix to host the return of the Pro Tour Qualifier, and we are very excited!  There are two tournament structures that the Pro Tour Qualifier may offer.  The first is the classic, large tournament as mentioned in the article.  Another option, and the one we will enjoy at Grand Prix Pittsburgh, is the faster, multi-qualifying event model.  We will have eight events each with a maximum of 32 players and lasting 5 Swiss Rounds.  The winner of each of these events will play in our PTQ Top 8.  The winner of this 8 player single-elimination event will earn their spot at Pro Tour Amonkhet!  The qualifying events have great prizes - and the Top 8 will feature just one prize - the Pro Tour Invite and the flight award that comes with it!

We are trying to offer as much opportunity as we can for players to participate in this event.  To keep things as fair as possible, we are doing the following:

1. Registration for all eight events will open online at 8 PM on Saturday and close at 8 AM on Sunday..  See www.mtggp.com for registration details at that time.
2. There will be two waves of events - 4 events at 9 a.m. and 4 at 12:00 noon (all events on Sunday)
3. You may only register for one event.  If we do not sell out online, you may have an opportunity to register on-site on Sunday.  (Yes, you can re-enter a second time, but there needs to be availability and you can only be registered in one event at a time.)
4. There will be no refunds.  If you cannot make the event, please contact info@pastimes.net, but no refunds will be given.

Again, we are very excited to offer this great event.  If you have questions, please email info@pastimes.net or come to the Information Booth at the front of Hall A at the Grand Prix.

For more information including prize distribution for these events, please see www.mtggp.com/events

We look forward to a great weekend in Pittsburgh - hope to see you here!

GP Pittsburgh Registration Error

Hello,

Reviewing our Registration options today we realized there was an error in our posts.  There was an omission of the Early Bird benefit - a huge deal to many players.  We apologize for this error.  There is still a week left to get the Early Bird Option.

Players who have already registered for the event will be contacted to make sure they have registered for the package they wanted.

Again, our apologies for the error.  We look forward to seeing you at GP Pittsburgh!
