Pastimes Competitive Event Information for the Magic Masters Series

Pastimes Event Policy

We, as the staff, are here to serve you. If you need anything from us please don’t hesitate to ask. There are, however, a few rules that we ask that you follow.

Conduct:

We ask that you keep in mind that, while Events are a total blast (especially ours), that you are still in a public place. Shouting obscenities is a very quick and effective way to have yourself removed. The same can be said for the disruption of any event or panel at the event, through vulgar language or otherwise. We also do not tolerate harassment in any form. Harassment is defined as stalking, bullying, aggressive behavior, or any other altercation that may fall under this category, as well as harassment based on gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, height, weight, cultural background, etc. This applies to anyone and everyone at the Event. If you feel that you are being harassed, please find a volunteer or staff member and let him or her know. Anyone found in violation of this policy may be removed from the Event.

Trading Information:

Although trading is permitted on-site, the following activities are not permitted, and may result in ejection from the Venue without refund:

  • Buying, selling, or soliciting to buy or sell cards to anyone except Authorized Vendors.
  • Altering cards in exchange for money or any other types of compensation.
  • Taking up excessive space while trading or transporting excessive amounts of trade stock.  No suitcases, carts or rollerbags may be used at the Grand Prix.
  • Advertising without permission from Pastimes event staff.

Children:

If you do bring your children to the event please be mindful of them. The venue can become crowded and it may be easy for a child to become lost or disoriented. Any lost child will be brought to the Pastimes information desk. While we do not require it, we encourage parental supervision for attendees under the age of 13.

Costumes:

While we strongly encourage our guests to come in costume if they wish, please keep in mind that there may be children present at the Event. Please use common sense when picking a costume. We ask that you abide by the following standards: shirt and shorts for men and full-coverage bikini top and shorts for women. Nudity and revealing costumes are absolutely not allowed. If a director or organizer decides that your costume is inappropriate, you will be asked to change. If a change of clothing is unavailable you will be asked to leave until you change out of the costume. Items such as stilts, leashes, or any other prop that may cause harm to the attendee or other attendees are not allowed. All attendees are required to wear footwear at all times while attending Pastimes Events for safety reasons.

The Pastimes staff would like to remind everyone that cosplay DOES NOT equal consent. Any form of harassment towards any attendee, no matter what the attendee is wearing, will result in the offender being removed from the Event grounds by security.

Weapons:

As with any Event, there may be people in costumes. If your costume has weapons, make sure it’s obvious they’re fake. Examples of this would be orange tips on toy guns. Peace-binding is not an option. This is for your protection as much as the protection of our other guests. Security will not hesitate to aggressively handle a breach of the weapons policy.

You may NOT bring any of the following to Pastimes Events:

Firearms and ammunition of any kind, including but not limited to: rifles, shotguns, hand guns, BB guns, pellet guns, cap guns, air-soft weapons, paintball guns, blow guns, tazers, explosives, knives, swords, daggers, sword canes, switchblades, bali-song(butterfly) knives, axes, hatchets, pole arms, staffs, clubs, wooden or metal bats and paddles, bows, arrows, martial arts weapons, brass knuckles, chains, whips, pepper spray, mace, and any projectile item, toy or real.

Any attendees who carry or otherwise bring prop weapons, replicas, or similar items do so at their own, sole, and absolute risk, and assume all risks of liability, harm, damage, or lose to any person or property  injured or otherwise harmed, intentionally or accidentally, directly or indirectly by such items or the attendee carrying them. Pastimes, its affiliates and subsidiaries are and shall not be liable for any injury, harm, damage, or other risk or liability associated with any attendee’s use of any weapon, replica, or prop, whether permitted or banned, while attending Pastimes.

Photography/Videography:

Photography and videography are allowed in all Pastimes-related spaces except for viewing rooms or any rooms that explicitly state otherwise. We only ask that you do not block the flow of traffic, especially in hallways or doorways, to take a photo/video of a subject and to move to a less-crowded area first. We allow photographers/videographers to set up any lighting or other equipment, but please refrain from setting up any equipment that is either in a crowded area or cannot easily be moved in the event that you are asked to move from your location. In addition, if an attendee does not wish to be photographed or filmed, please refrain from doing so or else it may be deemed a violation of our conduct policy.

Please note that by attending Pastimes, you are authorizing Pastimes and its designees to use the attendee’s name, voice, and likeness and all reproduction thereof in all media (photographs, videos, etc.) now or hereafter for all purposes in perpetuity.

No Tolerance Policy:

Illegal substances and alcohol are not allowed to be carried or consumed by anyone at the Event. Period. Doing so WILL result in removal of the attendee’s badge and expulsion from the Event grounds.

Smoking Policy:

Smoking is only allowed in designated areas outside of the Event building and away from any doorways.

Please note: Any form of electronic cigarette or similar devices is prohibited to be used in any of the indoor Event space. Any attendees that wish to use such devices must follow our general smoking policy.

Violation of this policy is grounds for removal from the Event and grounds.

Pastimes reserves the right to refuse admission to any individual and to eject persons from the event locations.

By entering any Pastimes Event, all attendees agree to the attendance policy.

In addition, by attending Pastimes Events, all attendees agree to have their photos taken or be filmed by Pastimes staff or designee for promotional purposes of the Event, and that attendees should inform any such Pastimes staff member if they do not wish to be photographed or filmed.

Limitation of Liability: In no event shall Pastimes, its affiliates and subsidiaries have any liability for any damage, inconvenience, loss or expense or stress, which might be caused to the attendee or the attendee’s property while attending a Pastimes Event.

Pastimes reserves the right to make changes to these policies at any time.
